Ingredients Convert Measures

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice, including pulp
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Triple sec
  • 3 tablespoons grated orange rind, plus some for use as garnish. I like mine in fairly large shreds.

Directions

  1. Squeeze the orange juice, using a reamer and be sure to include as much of the pulp as is possible, without any pith.
  2. In a food processor beat the cream until it begins to thicken.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients except for the orange rind and process again just until ingredients are mixed.
  4. Process in an ice cream maker, adding the orange rind slowly during the last 5 minutes of processing.
  5. Scoop the finished gelato into a container and place in the freezer. Leave it until you are satisfied with the amount of solidity you desire.
  6. Scoop into dessert dishes and garnish with additional grated orange
