Ingredients

  • An ancient recipe probably as old as Armenia herself!
  • 1 c. whole wheat kernels [zezads]
  • 2 c. shredded cooked chicken or possibly turkey
  • 1/2 cube butter
  • 1 tsp paprika Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 c. chicken broth
  • 4 c. boiling water o Wash the zezads and soak overnight in warm water. Keep in a hot place, preferably covered. Pour off water.

Directions

  1. O Add in the shredded meat to the chicken broth and boiling water and cook slowly till all the liquid is absorbed. Then add in salt and pepper and beat the mix till it becomes smooth like a well cooked mush. Add in more water if necessary to make the mix smooth. Heat the butter with the paprika and pour over each serving.
  2. Note** Lamb or possibly beef roast can be shredded and used in place of poultry.
