Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm lowfat milk, using large bowl. Add in butter, salt, and sugar; mix well. Sift flour into bowl and add in the rest of ingredients. Knead dough into springy and elastic. Place in greased bowl, let rise to double size, about 2 hrs, in a warm place. Turn out on floured board and knead lightly.Form into loaves, and place into well greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise again about 1 hour or possibly to double in bulk. Brush with slightly beaten egg and bake 30-35 min in 350 degree oven. When baked make icing of powdered sugar and a little water, spread on top of loaves.
