%20period%20in%20my%20life%20where%20I%20was%20basically%20keeping%20Lipton%20in%20business.%20And%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20just%20talking%20about%20my%20iced%20tea%20addiction%20(which%20I%20still%20have,%20thankyouverymuch)%20but%20those%20flavored%20%E2%80%9Cpasta%20sides%E2%80%9D%20packets.%20Except%20in%20my%20world%20they%20weren%E2%80%99t%20really%20sides%20so%20much%20as%20a%20meal%20and,%20man,%20did%20I%20love%20them.%20Sure,%20one%20package%20allowed%20me%20to%20reach%20my%20sodium%20limit%20for%20a%20month,%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20made%20them%20so%20tasty.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThose%20types%20of%20things%20got%20kicked%20to%20the%20curb%20when%20I%20started%20doing%20more%20from-scratch%20cooking%20and%20more%20clean%20eating.%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20had%20them%20in%20a%20number%20of%20years,%20but%20that%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20mean%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20still%20have%20cravings%20for%20something%20similar%20from%20time%20to%20time.%20%20This%20is,%20of%20course,%20why%20things%20like%20creamy%20taco%20mac%20and%20skillet%20ground%20beef%20stroganoff%20are%20very%20popular%20dishes%20in%20our%20house.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20dish%20is%20simple.%20You%20cook%20the%20pasta%20and%20then%20you%20saute%20a%20couple%20of%20garlic%20cloves%20in%20a%20little%20butter%20and%20oil,%20and%20make%20a%20roux%20which%20thickens%20the%20sauce.%20Then,%20everything%20is%20combined,%20along%20with%20some%20cheese.%20Garlic%20powder%20is%20added,%20too,%20and%20though%20I%20normally%20don%E2%80%99t%20use%20it%20for%20anything%20other%20than%20rubs,%20it%20works%20well%20here%20because%20it%20makes%20the%20garlic%20flavor%20more%20robust%E2%80%94something%20I%20remember%20from%20the%20packets.%20It%E2%80%99s%20all%20on%20the%20table%20quickly%20and%20makes%20for%20a%20great%20side%20to%20pretty%20much%20anything.%20Although%20I%20haven%E2%80%99t%20tried%20it%20yet,%20I%20see%20no%20reason%20why%20you%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20make%20this%20all%20in%20one%20pot,%20a%20la%20the%20revolutionary%20mac%20and%20cheese,%20increasing%20the%20liquid%20by%20a%20bit,%20so%20I%E2%80%99ll%20probably%20try%20that%20next%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECreamy%20Garlic%20Shells%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20Iowa%20Girl%20Eats%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20the%20shells%20in%20a%20pot%20of%20boiling,%20salted%20water,%20until%20just%20al%20dente;%20drain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReturn%20the%20empty%20pot%20to%20the%20stove,%20and%20melt%20the%20butter%20into%20the%20oil.%20Add%20the%20minced%20garlic%20and%20saute%20just%20until%20golden,%2030-45%20seconds.%20Sprinkle%20in%20the%20flour,%20stirring%20constantly%20for%20about%201%20minute%20to%20cook%20it%20off.%20Slowly%20add%20in%20the%20chicken%20broth%20and%20milk,%20continuing%20to%20stir.%20Continue%20to%20cook,%20stirring%20frequently,%20until%20mixture%20is%20thick%20and%20bubbly,%20about%205%20minutes.%20Stir%20in%20the%20garlic%20powder,%20parsley,%20and%20salt%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOff%20the%20heat,%20stir%20in%20the%20cooked%20pasta%20and%20Parmesan.%20Adjust%20seasonings%20if%20necessary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*If%20you%20want%20a%20more%20robust%20chicken%20flavor%20(closer%20to%20the%20packets)%20you%20can%20add%20a%20little%20bouillon/Better%20Than%20Bouillon.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
