Ingredients
- 2 fat loaves French bread
- 8 ounce. pork sausage
- 8 ounce. grnd beef
- 1 med. onion, diced
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 c. fresh parsley, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
- Salt & fresh grnd pepper
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
Directions
- Cut the ends off the bread and hollow out the loaves. Process the bread in food processor and reserve the crumbs.
- Brown the sausage in a skillet; add in onion and beef. Cook till beef is lightly browned.
- Combine bread crumbs, meat mix, egg, mustard, parsley, fennel, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Spoon the mix into the bread shells; attach bread ends with small skewers.
- Heat the butter; saute/fry garlic till golden brown and brush over loaves. Wrap loaves in aluminum foil, leaving foil open slightly at the top.
- Bake at 400 degrees till heated through, 15 to 20 min. Cut into 36 appetizer portions.
