Ingredients
- 5 c. Self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Shortening
- 2 pkt Yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. Buttermilk
- Â Â Butter, melted
Directions
- Here is a recipe for really good biscuits. I got it from a cookbook which was given to me in Georgia. The name of the cookbook is Lovejoy Plantation for, but the name sounds southern and they do taste great!
- Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add in yeast and buttermilk. Mix well. Refrigerate1 hour. Roll and cut. Set aside to rise 1 hour in hot place.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min. Brush with melted butter as biscuits start to brown. Continue to bake till brown. These can be made and refrigerated up to 10 days ahead.
