Here's How To Make Rajasthani Bajre Ki Khichdi Recipe

You might have seen a lot of khichadi recipes. Today the one I am going to show is made with bajra. Its quite warm but nutritious and a winter delight.

Ingredients

  • ginger garlic paste
  • 1 spoon of cumin seed
  • bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and 2 cloves
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • beans and carrot
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander & Cumin Seed Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder and two chopped green chilies.
  • And salt to taste and mix it well.
  • 500ml - 750ml water to it.

Directions

  1. I am going to cook everything in a pressure cooker. So let’s turn on the flame.
  2. Add a spoon of oil. Once the oil is nice and hot add 1 spoon of cumin seed
  3. Add bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and 2 cloves.
  4. Let this cook for a few seconds.
  5. Add a spoon of ginger garlic paste and mix it well.
  6. Add 1 finely chopped onions and cook them well
  7. Add 2 chopped tomatoes.
  8. Reduce the flame and let the tomatoes softener
  9. Meanwhile chop the veggies: beans and carrot.
  10. Add these veggies into it and mix it well. Also, add green peas. You can add any vegetable of your choice.
  11. Soak the 1 gram bajra for 6-7 hours. And the soaked bajra into the cooker.
  12. What is a khichadi if there is no daal in it.
  13. So I also add a half cup of soaked moong daal. You can use any daal of your choice like tur daal or green moong daal.
  14. Give it a nice mix. Its time for a seasoning spices.
  15. Add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  16. 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  17. 1 tsp Coriander & Cumin Seed Powder
  18. 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder and two chopped green chilies.
  19. And salt to taste and mix it well.
  20. Add the 500ml - 750ml water to it.
  21. It takes a lot of water because a bajra takes a lot of time to cook.
  22. After adding the water wait for 4-5 whistles. Let it cool down for 20-30 minutes and then open it.
  23. Add some ghee to it for more flavor and also a little bit of coriander leaves.
  24. Plate it and serve.
  25. Rajasthani Bajre Ki Khichdi is a superfood and it is rich in iron, protein and many nutrients.
