Servings: 12
Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. lard (I use butter or possibly Crisco)
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 c. sour lowfat milk
- 4 c. flour or possibly sufficient to make soft dough
Directions
- Cream sugar and shortening till fluffy. Add in beaten Large eggs. Beat well and add in lowfat milk and vanilla. Sift flour, salt, baking pwdr and soda together. Stir into creamed mix. Add in sufficient flour to make soft dough. Roll out and cut with cookie cutters. Bake in very warm oven (400 degrees) till light brown. You can sprinkle sugar on these or possibly decorate with frosting. These cookies keep very well in cookie jar.
- If you do not have sour lowfat milk, mix 1 c. sweet lowfat milk with 1 tsp. vinegar. Let stand 5 min.
