German Onion Pie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 slc Bacon, thick, diced
  • 2 c. Onions, yellow, minced
  • 2 x Large eggs, well beaten
  • 1 c. Lowfat sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp. Flour, all-purpose
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper, black
  • 1 x Pie shell, 9", unbaked

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Saute/fry' the bacon just till clear. Drain most of the fat from the pan.
  3. Add in the onions and saute/fry' till they are clear. Don't brown them. Set aside and cold.
  4. Beat the Large eggs and lowfat sour cream together in a medium-sized bowl. Sprinkle the flour over the top and beat it in. Stir in the salt and pepper.
  5. Prick the bottom of the pie shell several times with a fork. Spread the onions and bacon over the dough in the pie pan. Pour the lowfat sour cream mix over the top.
  6. Bake for 15 min. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for another 15 min or possibly till pie is nicely browned. Serve warm.
