- 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
- For the Filling:
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 Tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 cups whole milk
- 7 ounces semisweet chocolate (60-61% cacao), finely chopped
- 3 Tablespoons cold butter, diced
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- For the Topping and Garnish:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 Tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings or additional crushed Oreos for garnish, optional

%20so%20I%20definitely%20do%20not%20want%20to%20put%20all%20the%20work%20into%20it%20and%20then%20they%20just%20toss%20the%20contents%20away%20in%20their%20trash.%20%20What%20to%20do?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20the%20answer%20is%20making%20baskets%20for%20only%20my%20neighbors.%20%20This%20way,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20offending%20any%20of%20my%20friends%20by%20choosing%20to%20make%20baskets%20just%20for%20the%20ones%20I%20know%20will%20eat%20it%20and%20having%20to%20explain%20why%20the%20other%20friends%20didn%E2%80%99t%20get%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%23firstworldissues%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20maybe,%20just%20maybe,%20my%20friends%20will%20read%20this%20blog%20post%20so%20they%20understand%20why%20they%20didn%E2%80%99t%20get%20a%20Christmas%20basket%20from%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99m%20hoping%20when%20I%20no%20longer%20have%20an%208-month%20old%20baby%20crawling%20around,%20getting%20into%20EVERYTHING,%20that%20I%20can%20just%20make%20as%20many%20baskets%20as%20I%20want.%20%20Then%20I%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20care%20about%20the%20time%20I%E2%80%99m%20putting%20into%20it%20and%20whether%20my%20friends%20toss%20it%20or%20not.%20%20Until%20then,%20my%20neighbors%20will%20reap%20the%20benefits.%20%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20neighbors%20were%20also%20the%20lucky%20ones%20to%20receive%20this%20pie.%20%20Two%20weeks%20ago,%20I%20got%20the%20itch%20for%20pie.%20%20So%20like%20any%2030-some%20year%20old%20mom%20of%20two%20would%20do%20late%20at%20night,%20I%20made%20a%20Pinterest%20board%20dedicated%20just%20for%20pie.%20%20;)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20can%20you%20go%20wrong%20with%20a%20chocolate%20crust%20AND%20a%20chocolate%20filling?%20%20You%20just%20can%E2%80%99t.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDouble-Chocolate%20Cream%20Pie%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChocolate%20crust%20and%20a%20decadent%20chocolate%20filling,%20going%20all%20the%20way!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Crust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Crust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20In%20a%20blender%20or%20food%20processor,%20crush%20the%20Oreos%20until%20fine.%20Add%20the%20melted%20butter%20and%20process%20until%20just%20moist.%20Transfer%20to%20a%209-inch%20pie%20plate%20and%20press%20to%20line%20the%20bottom%20and%20sides.%20(Tip:%20Use%20a%201/2%20cup%20dry%20measuring%20cup%20to%20help%20press%20the%20crust%20evenly%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20plate.)%20Bake%20for%207%20to%208%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20on%20wire%20rack.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Filling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20the%20sugar,%20cornstarch,%20unsweetened%20cocoa%20powder%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20medium%20bowl.%20Add%20the%20whole%20egg,%20egg%20yolks,%20and%201/2%20cup%20of%20the%20milk,%20then%20whisk%20until%20incorporated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20large%20saucepan,%20bring%20the%20rest%20of%20the%201%201/2%20cups%20of%20milk%20to%20a%20boil%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%20Immediately%20remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20pour%20the%20hot%20milk%20into%20the%20egg%20mixture%20in%20a%20very%20thin%20stream,%20whisking%20constantly%20to%20avoid%20scrambling%20the%20eggs.%20Scrape%20the%20mixture%20back%20into%20the%20saucepan%20and%20heat%20over%20medium%20heat,%20stirring%20constantly,%20until%20it%20returns%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20the%20mixture%20thickens,%20about%205%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20the%20heat%20again,%20add%20the%20chopped%20chocolate%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20in%20the%20mixture%20for%201%20minute%20before%20stirring.%20Add%20the%20butter%20and%20the%20vanilla,%20then%20whisk%20until%20the%20chocolate%20is%20completely%20melted%20and%20the%20filling%20is%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20filling%20into%20the%20cooled%20crust-lined%20pie%20plate%20and%20use%20a%20rubber%20spatula%20or%20wooden%20spoon%20to%20smooth%20it%20out%20evenly.%20Cover%20with%20plastic%20wrap,%20making%20sure%20the%20plastic%20is%20flush%20to%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20filling%20in%20order%20to%20avoid%20a%20film%20developing%20on%20top.%20Refrigerate%20for%20at%20least%202%20hours%20(I%20prefer%20at%20least%204%20hours%20to%20ensure%20it%20is%20completely%20cold%20and%20set).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Topping%20and%20Garnish:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20ready%20to%20serve%20the%20pie,%20make%20the%20whipped%20cream%20topping.%20Beat%20the%20whipping%20cream%20in%20a%20large%20bowl%20with%20an%20electric%20mixer%20until%20soft%20peaks%20almost%20form.%20Add%20the%20powdered%20sugar%20and%20vanilla,%20then%20continue%20to%20beat%20until%20soft%20peaks%20form%20(thickened%20to%20the%20consistency%20of%20whipped%20cream).%20Spread%20evenly%20over%20top%20the%20pie.%20Garnish%20with%20additional%20crushed%20Oreos%20or%20chocolate%20shavings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20Source:%20Adapted%20from%20Paula%20Deen's%20Southern%20Cooking%20Bible2.2%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.seededatthetable.com/2013/12/18/double-chocolate-cream-pie/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECopyright%20Seeded%20at%20the%20Table%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
