Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. Pitted Dates minced
- 1 c. Water boiling
- 1/2 c. Dark brown sugar
- 1 x Egg beaten
- 3 Tbsp. Shortening melted
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 2 c. All-Purpose Flour sifted
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 c. Walnuts coarsely minced
Directions
- Place the dates in a mixing bowl and add in boiling water. Let stand till fairly cold. Then add in the brown sugar, egg, shortening and vanilla. Stir the flour, salt, baking soda and baking pwdr into the mix. Add in nuts.
- Stir till mixed.
- Bake in a greased and floured loaf pan in a preheated 350F oven for 1 hour.
- Remove to a cooling rack.
