Corn bread is a staple in Southern US cooking/baking. We make it several ways and it accompanies many dishes.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup AP Flour
- 1 cup Corn Meal
- one teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- pinch of iodized salt
- one large Beaten Egg
- 3 tablespoon melted butter
- 3 tablespoons Pure Honey
Directions
- Pre Heat Oven 400 F
- I use a square cast iron skillet (well greased). A 10" regular cast iron skillet will work as any oven safe baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl add AP Flour through salt and mix using a fork
- Add beaten egg, butter, honey and stir to combine (do not over-mix batter)
- Pour into your skillet and place in the middle rack of the oven and bake 22-24 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
- Cut into squares and enjoy. You can drizzle additional honey over warm corn bread squares, if desired.
