Directions

  1. (This is a "starter" for a pot of brandied fruit. It will take a total of 9 weeks for this to be complete, for eating. After the initial 9 weeks, fruit and sugar may be added at 2 week intervals for an indefinite period of time. Also, after the initial 9 week period, you may remove any amount of brandied fruit and give it to a friend as her "starter." Add in more fruit and sugar in proportion to the amount removed.)
  2. In a large container (loose fitting cover), add in 2 c. sugar and 2 c. bite size peaches. Mix well (don't chill). Stir every day till bubbles disappear, about 3 weeks.
  3. Add in 2 c. sugar and 2 c. bite size pineapple. Stir every day for 2 weeks.
  4. Add in 2 c. sugar and 2 c. diced apricots. Stir daily for 2 weeks.
  5. Add in 2 c. sugar and 2 c. quartered cherries. Stir daily for 2 weeks. It is ready to eat now and may be refrigerated.
  6. This is very much worth the trouble it is to make. Excellent over ice cream. A "starter" makes an excellent Christmas gift.
  7. TAKES TOTAL OF 9 WEEKS FOR

I have looked all over for this old family favorite. We used to make it for Christmas gifts and it went all over the country. It is a wonderful treat to have and we keep the pot going for a long time. Can't wait to get started on one. It has been at least 30 years since we had this. Thank you so much for it.
    I've cooked/tasted this recipe!
