Baked Herring Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 x Salt herring fillets
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1/3 c. Flour
  • 4 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 3 x Onions sliced

Directions

  1. Soak the herring in water to cover overnight. Change the water once. Drain.
  2. Dip the herring first in the lowfat milk and then in the flour (reserving the lowfat milk). Heat 2 Tbsp. butter in a baking dish and arrange the herring in it. Cover with the sliced onions. Dot with remaining butter and add in reserved lowfat milk.
  3. Bake in a 375 degree oven 30 min.
  4. Serves 4 to 6.
