About me
I'm a diabetic who should not eat all these yummy desserts. Almost 69 years young. Two kids, 1 of each. Daughter has 2 boys, ages 12 and 18 months. I live with my partner, and he cooks once in a while. Mostly regular food. I do most of the cooking, but just ordinary fare. I like to bake, but am not supposed to eat, so don't do it often. Have no, absolutely no self-control.
Live in Schaghticoke, NY. Have 11 acres of land, mostly wooded. Love the country. Hate cities, and don't care to drive in them.
Oh, have a great daughter-in-law and a son-in-law, whom I love dearly. A few relatives, and many friends, best friend Kathy.
Am currently retired, making jewelry and other crafts, and sell the best candles in the world. Have a website, to anyone who might be interested. Mia Bella Candles has just introduced a new line of natural-mineral cosmetics.
Dog-Scottish Terrier-McDuff. Outdoor cats, as I am horrifically allergic.
Anything else about me? Just ask.
Cooking Influences
Mostly my grandmother, my Mom and a bit from my mother-in-law. Love cookbooks, but usually doctor recipes. I always have to add things. I don't know why.
Recommendations
Favorite Cookbooks

- Old standby. I use it for basic cooking.

- Love seafood, and they do the best locally
Comments
- June 4, 2009I cook out of my head, and don't usually use recipes. I don't even know if I ever make the same dish, the same way any time. As for sharing, it's pretty hard when I do a shake of this or a small handful of that.
I have a couple of family hand-down ones, when I get some extra time.
Thanks. - June 4, 2009Glad you joined, Mary. Hope you'll enjoy the recipes here...and share a few of your own favorites with us!
