Indian Raita with Persian flavor Recipe

The inspiration of this recipe came from the Iranian drink called Doogh. Doogh is made up of yogurt and mint. To give Indian raita a Persian flavor, I used ingredients used for Doogh and in a hot summer day it turned out to be really good.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium size onion
  • 1 medium size cucumber
  • 2 up yogurt
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • a pinch of black salt
  • 1/4 cup of coriender to garnish

Directions

  1. Cut onion and cucumber in small pieces
  2. Drain all the water from it
  3. Grind Mint leaves, sugar, salt and green chillies and make it into a paste
  4. Mix the above paste and yogurt with cucumber and onion.
  5. Add black pepper and black salt to it.
  6. Add lemon juice and mix it well.
  7. Garnish it with coriander
