Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups almond meal
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (Gluten-free folks, use your favorite gluten-free flour)
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 6 egg whites, at room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (or vanilla extract)
- Finely grated zest of 1 orange
- 1 or 2 nectarines, sliced into very thin slivers or 6 Mission figs, sliced in half, stems removed (or whatever seasonal fruit you like)
