Ingredients
- 9 oz whole graham crackers
- ½ cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- 1 stick butter, melted (sometimes a little more)
- 3 large (5 oz) packages Jello HEAT AND SERVE Chocolate Pudding
- (not chocolate fudge and NOT sugar free and NOT instant)
- 9 cups whole milk
- 1 stick of real butter, cut into cubes
- 6 ounces Hershey’s MILK Chocolate bars (not chocolate chips, they
- have too much wax and stabilizers), broken into pieces.
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (16 oz) heavy whipping cream
- ⅓ cup powdered sugar
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

%20into%20a%20graham%20cracker%20crust.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20new%20version%20of%20the%20chocolate%20pie%20was%20just%20as%20delicious%20and%20it%20kept%20her%20army%20officer%20happy%20for%20over%2060%20years.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinally,%20the%20day%20came%20when%20the%20army%20officer%E2%80%99s%20son%20called%20on%20the%20telephone%20to%20say%20he%20was%20coming%20home%20from%20college%20for%20a%20visit.%20%20He%20asked%20his%20mother%20to%20make%20the%20chocolate%20pie%20for%20him.%20%20What%20she%20didn%E2%80%99t%20know%20was%20that%20he%20was%20bringing%20his%20girl%20home%20to%20meet%20the%20family%20for%20the%20very%20first%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20is%20not%20a%20picture%20of%20that%20day%20but,%20for%2035%20years,%20I%20have%20been%20making%20Lola%E2%80%99s%20chocolate%20pie%20for%20my%20little%20branch%20of%20her%20family.%20%20And,%20like%20my%20mother-in-law,%20I%20have%20put%20my%20own%20little%20spin%20on%20Lola%E2%80%99s%20cherished%20chocolate%20pie.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20little%20touches%20to%20Lola%E2%80%99s%20amazing%20chocolate%20pie%20recipe%20are%20the%20toasted%20pecans%20and%20cinnamon%20in%20the%20graham%20cracker%20crust.%20%20I%20also%20added%20my%20%E2%80%9Cmethod%E2%80%9D%20for%20making%20the%20crust%20that%20leaves%20the%20crumbs%20larger%20for%20more%20texture%20than%20usual.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlease%20do%20try%20this%20chocolate%20pie.%20%20It%E2%80%99s%20fast,%20easy%20and%20just%20can%E2%80%99t%20fail.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%80%94posted%20by%20Sandy%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Classic%20Chocolate%20Cream%20Pie%20Recipe%20and%20a%20Love%20Story%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAuthor:%20Lola%20Hoopes%20adapted%20by%20Sandy%20Hoopes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERecipe%20type:%20Dessert%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECuisine:%20American%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBreak%20up%20the%20graham%20crackers%20and%20place%20in%20a%20food%20processor%20and%20process%20until%20they%20are%20crumbs%20but%20still%20have%20a%20texture.%20Do%20not%20over%20process%20into%20powder.%20Work%20with%20smaller%20batches%20to%20keep%20the%20size%20of%20the%20crumbs%20even.%20Pour%20into%20a%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChop%20the%20pecans%20until%20finely%20chopped%20(I%20buy%20them%20chopped%20and%20then%20chop%20them%20a%20little%20more).%20Place%20crumbs%20in%20a%20dry%20frying%20pan%20over%20medium%20high%20heat%20and%20toast%20lightly%20until%20you%20can%20smell%20the%20aroma.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20pecans,%20sugar,%20cinnamon%20and%20salt%20to%20the%20graham%20cracker%20crumbs%20and%20stir%20until%20well%20combined.%20Drizzle%20in%20the%20melted%20butter%20and%20stir%20well%20so%20that%20all%20of%20the%20crumbs%20are%20coated%20with%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20the%20crumb%20mixture%20and%20scoop%20into%20each%20pie%20pan.%20Using%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20measuring%20cup,%20press%20the%20crumbs%20evenly%20into%20the%20bottom%20and%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20pie%20plate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20to%20set%20while%20making%20the%20chocolate%20filling.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20pudding%20mix%20into%20a%20large%20sauce%20pan,%20add%20milk.%20Whisk%20together%20until%20there%20are%20no%20lumps.%20Stir%20constantly%20and%20cook%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20the%20pudding%20comes%20to%20a%20full%20boil.%20If%20the%20heat%20is%20too%20high,%20the%20pudding%20will%20scorch.%20Keep%20stirring%20or%20the%20pudding%20will%20scorch%20and%20stick%20to%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan.%20You%20may%20inch%20up%20the%20heat%20a%20little%20if%20necessary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20pan%20from%20the%20hot%20burner%20the%20minute%20it%20comes%20to%20a%20boil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuickly%20add%20the%20cubed%20butter%20and%20stir%20until%20melted.%20Then,%20add%20the%20chocolate%20pieces%20and%20stir%20into%20the%20pudding%20until%20melted%20and%20well%20combined.%20Add%20the%20pinch%20of%20salt%20and%20stir.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20pudding%20into%20the%20pie%20crusts.%20Cover%20each%20of%20the%20pies%20with%20a%20piece%20of%20plastic%20wrap.%20Make%20sure%20the%20plastic%20wrap%20touches%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20hot%20pudding%20and%20completely%20covers%20it%20so%20it%20will%20not%20get%20a%20%E2%80%9Cskin%E2%80%9D%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReturn%20the%20pies%20to%20the%20refrigerator%20until%20chilled.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhip%20the%20cream%20until%20it%20begins%20to%20thicken.%20Add%20the%20powdered%20sugar%20and%20the%20vanilla%20and%20whip%20to%20stiff%20peaks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20plastic%20from%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20pies.%20Divide%20the%20whipped%20cream%20over%20the%20pies%20and%20smooth%20all%20the%20way%20to%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20pie%20crust.%20The%20pudding%20that%20is%20not%20covered%20by%20cream%20will%20turn%20dark.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERefrigerate%20again%20to%20set%20the%20whipped%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.2.1275%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echocolate%20pie%20recipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echocolate%20recipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecream%20pie%20recipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Egraham%20cracker%20crust%20recipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epie%20recipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EValentine's%20Day%20Dessert%20Recipe%
