;%20just%20slice%20or%20chop%20them%20up%20(about%201%20cup),%20mix%20in%202%20or%203%20tbsp%20of%20sugar%20and%20a%20tbsp%20of%20corn%20starch%20and%20a%20dash%20of%20cinnamon%20powder....mix%20all%20them%20up...and%20fill%20it%20in.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20to%20dust%20powered%20sugar%20on%20top%20of%20my%20baked%20goodies,%20it%20kinda%20make%20me%20double%20happy!%20Oh!%20please%20allow%20them%20to%20cool%20down%20completely%20because%20pies%20are%20meant%20to%20be%20cooled%20and%20then%20cut!%20otherwise,%20you%20will%20be%20in%20a%20big%20mess,%20so%20have%20patience%20and%20control%20with%20pies%20around!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20slabs%20were%20sliced%20and%20served%20to%20my%20kids.....and%20all%20I%20could%20say%20was%20Amen!%20Sometimes%20kids%20can%20be%20very%20greedy....atleast%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20pies,%20ha!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20did%20I%20convince%20you%20enough%20to%20make%20one??%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemember,%20I%20mentioned%20that%20these%20baking%20mats%20were%20gifted%20by%20my%20bloggy%20friend%20Renu%20(thank%20you).%20I%20started%20using%20them%20wherever%20%22bakingly%22%20possible.%20Aha!%20I%20just%20created%20a%20new%20word%20%22bakingly%22!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20if%20you%20do%20not%20have%20one,%20do%20not%20panic;%20you%20can%20either%20find%20them%20in%20here%20or%20can%20make%20a%20parchment%20(butter%20paper)%20lined%20baking%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAuthor:%20Nisa%20Homey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaking%20Time:%2015%20to%2020%20min.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrust:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESugar:%203%20tbsp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESalt:%20A%20big%20fat%20pinch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIce%20cold%20water:%201%20to%203%20tbsp%20or%20as%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20Jam:%203%20to%204%20tbsp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20glaze:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20egg%20beaten%20for%20egg%20wash.Powdered%20sugar%20for%20dusting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20180%20degree%20C.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20my%20food%20processor%20to%20make%20the%20dough;%20you%20can%20also%20make%20the%20dough%20with%20your%20hands%20(just%20crumble%20the%20butter%20and%20knead%20into%20the%20flour%20with%20your%20fingertips%20till%20it%20resembles%20breadcrumbs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere,%20I%20just%20dunked%20the%20butter,%20salt,%20sugar,%20and%20flour%20into%20the%20processor....and%20pulsed%20for%2050%20sec.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThrough%20the%20feeder,%20poured%20in%201%20to%203%20tbsp%20of%20ice%20cold%20water....and%20ta!%20da!%20you%20get%20the%20dough%20in%20about%202%20to%203%20pulse%20later.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20gathered%20the%20dough%20into%20the%20counter%20top,%20and%20gave%20it%20a%20nice%20knead%20with%20my%20hands...I%20need%20to%20workout%20them%20more!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20placed%20it%20in%20a%20parchment%20paper%20....on%20one%20side....so%20there%20is%20some%20paper%20to%20be%20pulled%20over.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECovered%20it%20with%20the%20other%20end%20of%20the%20paper.%20And%20with%20my%20rolling%20pin,%20I%20rolled%20it%20out%20into%20rectangle%20(as%20much%20as%20possible)%20and%20trimmed%20away%20the%20sides%20with%20a%20pizza%20cutter.%20The%20pie%20base%20is%20actually%20sandwiched%20inside%20the%20parchment%20paper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20way,%20it%20is%20easy%20to%20roll%20out%20and%20no%20sticky%20dough%20or%20flour%20mess!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20then%20just%20pulled%20out%20the%20pie%20pastry%20carefully%20and%20placed%20into%20the%20silpat%20baking%20mat,%20and%20filled%20the%20strawberry%20jam%20on%20one%20side,%20I%20just%20simply%20pulled%20over%20the%20other%20end%20of%20the%20pie%20pastry%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20filling...easy%20peasy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimply%20give%20an%20egg%20wash%20on%20the%20sides,%20so%20that%20they%20will%20seal%20perfectly%20when%20closed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20closed,%20give%20another%20egg%20coat%20(wash)%20all%20over%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20with%20a%20fork,%20I%20made%20them%20look%20pretty%20on%20the%20sides.....and%20pricked%20them%20all%20over%20the%20top,%20this%20is%20to%20let%20the%20steam%20out%20while%20baking%20or%20else...it%20will%20burst%20open%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20popped%20them%20into%20preheated%20oven%20for%20about%2015%20to%2020%20min....and%20allowed%20them%20to%20cool%20down....patience%20is%20the%20mantra%20here!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20cooled%20down%20dust%20with%20powdered%20sugar,%20though%20some%20prefer%20sprinkling%20sugar%20over%20the%20egg%20washed%20top%20before%20baking.....you%20can%20take%20your%20pick%20on%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20into%20your%20desired%20shape%20and%20serve!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberry%20Slab%20Pie,%20for%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETip:%20The%20best%20thing%20about%20using%20Strawberry%20Jam%20as%20a%20filling%20is%20that%20you%20can%20make%20the%20pie%20even%20when%20the%20berries%20are%20not%20in%20season.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
