Ingredients
- 4 x chicken thighs, skin removed if you like
- 4 x chicken drumsticks, skin removed if you like
- 1 x 15 oz can chunky Italian style tomato sauce
- 1 x 4 1/2 oz whole mushrooms liquid removed
- 1 tsp dry oregano
- 1 sm onion sliced
- 1 sm green bell pepper in 1 " chunks
- 2 x cloves garlic chopped
- 1/4 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
Directions
- In a 3 1/2-4 qt slow cooker, combine all ingredients except water and flour, mix gently. Cover and cook on Low Heat setting for 6 hrs or possibly till chicken is fork-tender and juices run clear.
- With slotted spoon, remove chicken and vegetables from slow cooker; place in serving bowl. Cover and keep hot.
- In small bowl, combine water and flour; blend well. Stir into liquid in slow cooker. Cover; cook on High setting for 5-10 min or possibly till thickened. Stir well; spoon mix over chicken.
- Makes 4 servings.
- Chinese Cooking
- NOTES : The word " Cacciatore", is Italian for "Hunter" refering to hunter-style foods cooked with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, wine and herbs. This is nice served with pasta. Put a pot of water to boil as you finish the cacciatore sauce. Serve over cooked spaghetti. Sprinkle with shredded fresh Parmesan cheese.
