Shortcut Cupcakes and a Winner!

This season I’m changing my middle name to shortcut. Yep, just call me “Sandra Shortcut”. Seriously who is playing around with the time? It’s not like I/we didn’t know 350 days ago, give or take a day or two that Christmas was coming. What happened to all the posts that I wanted to do, the decorations I’d planned, the weight I wanted to lose. Ummmm, strike that last one (insert embarrassed face).
Maybe I’ve set unrealistic expectations on my time and my budget. Maybe subconsciously I’ve declared this a less is more season. Whatever the reason, it is what it is and I’m using shortcuts whenever and wherever I can, don’t judge me please.

.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaybe%20I%E2%80%99ve%20set%20unrealistic%20expectations%20on%20my%20time%20and%20my%20budget.%20Maybe%20subconsciously%20I%E2%80%99ve%20declared%20this%20a%20less%20is%20more%20season.%20Whatever%20the%20reason,%20it%20is%20what%20it%20is%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20using%20shortcuts%20whenever%20and%20wherever%20I%20can,%20don%E2%80%99t%20judge%20me%20please.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20being%20said,%20our%20resident%20princess%20Gabbi%20wanted%20something%20to%20snack%20on.%20Her%20staple%20diet%20of%20ramen%20noodles%20and%20oatmeal%20just%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20cutting%20it%20this%20weekend.%20I%20lost%20count%20of%20how%20many%20times%20she%20looked%20in%20the%20fridge%20and%20cabinets%20for%20something%20to%20snack%20on.%20Being%20the%20doting%20Nanni%20that%20I%20am,%20I%20promised%20to%20make%20pancakes%20for%20breakfast.%20I%20kept%20my%20word%20and%20they%20were%20from%20a%20box%20and%20she%20had%20her%20fill.%20Wanting%20to%20give%20her%20a%20little%20lagniappe%20(a%20little%20something%20extra)%20I%20made%20cupcakes,%20from%20a%20boxed%20mix,%20with%20sprinkles%20no%20less.%20She%20didn%E2%80%99t%20touch%20them.%20Seriously?%20This%20is%20the%20kid%20that%20used%20to%20love%20anything%20with%20binkles,%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20she%20used%20to%20call%20them.%20Oh%20well,%20the%20binkled%20cupcakes%20will%20have%20a%20new%20life%20in%20about%20a%20week%20as%20funfetti%20cake%20truffles.%20I%20have%20children%20coming%20in%20from%20three%20states%20that%20will%20devour%20them,%20all%20is%20not%20lost.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20these%20cuppies%20I%20used%20the%20Meijer%E2%80%99s%20brand%20of%20yellow%20cake%20mix.%20I%20added%202%20tsp%20of%20vanilla%20and%202%20TBS%20of%20sprinkles.%20Bada%20boom%20bada%20Bing!%20I%20had%20some%20buttercream%20frosting%20on%20hand%20and%20piped%20a%20quick%20spiky%20decoration%20on%20them.%20What%20I%20love,%20love,%20love%20about%20these%20pictures%20are%20the%20Santa%20mugs.%20My%20mom%20was%20heavy%20into%20ceramics%20and%20she%20made%20these.%20I%20have%20the%20whole%20set%20and%20the%20ball%20at%20the%20end%20of%20Santa%E2%80%99s%20hat%20is%20missing%20on%20most%20of%20them.%20She%20loved%20the%20holidays%20and%20did%20everything%20she%20could%20to%20make%20them%20special%20for%20us.%20Every%20bit%20of%20being%20a%20hostess,%20every%20bit%20of%20making%20my%20family%20feel%20special%20comes%20from%20the%20unconditional%20love%20and%20make%20it%20work%20with%20what%20you%E2%80%99ve%20got%20attitude%20that%20came%20from%20her.%20I%20am%20who%20I%20am%20because%20of%20her.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
