Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb Royal Anne cherries with no pits
  • 1 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. Vodka
  • 1 c. Brandy

Directions

  1. Yield: makes about 1 qt
  2. Wash cherries; cut each cherry with a knife to open up. Place cherries in aging container. Pour sugar over cherries; stir with a wooden spoon to mix well. Pour vodka and brandy over cherry mix. Stir well to combine and partly dissolved sugar. Cover container and place in a cold place. Stir regularly in the first month to assist sugar dissolving. Cap, and place in a cold, dark place for 2 more months.
  3. After aging, pour liqueur through a colander placed in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Throw away cherries. Strain again through fine wire mesh or possibly cloth till desired clarity is reached. Bottle as desired. May be served, but improves with additional aging. Liqueur is ready in 3 months.
