Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Finger millet flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp. All purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. oil
- 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
- 1 tsp. active dried yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2. Orange Flavored Wheat Bran & Apricot Slices
- Ingredients;
- (makes 20 slices)
- 1 cup Wheat Bran
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup chopped dried apricot
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup oil
- 2 tbsp. chocolate chips
- 1 tsp. orange zest
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- A pinch of salt

%20and%20how%20hectic%20the%20coming%20days%20would%20be,%20what%20with%20the%20shopping,%20planning,%20and%20inviting%20friends%20and%20relatives%20for%20the%20function.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20some%20days%20later,%20to%20my%20surprise,%20I%20receive%20a%20flipcart%20delivery%20from%20her,%20a%20beautiful%20and%20very%20thoughtful%20gift%20for%20my%20son!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20words%20by%20Anais%20Nin%20perfectly%20resonate%20my%20feelings,%20%E2%80%9CEach%20friend%20represents%20a%20world%20in%20us,%20a%20world%20possibly%20not%20born%20until%20they%20arrive,%20and%20it%20is%20only%20by%20this%20meeting%20that%20a%20new%20world%20is%20born.%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Finger%20Millet%20or%20Ragi%20Bread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20baked%20a%20loaf%20of%20finger%20millet%20bread%20and%20a%20few%20wheat%20bran%20slices%20for%20our%20recent%20travel%20trip%20to%20Yercaud.%20Here%20is%20one%20another%20recipe%20of%20Oatmeal%20and%20Almond%20slices%20baked%20for%20a%20travel%20trip%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20absence%20of%20gluten%20in%20%20Millet%20does%20not%20help%20the%20bread%20rise%20even%20after%20adding%20yeast%20in%20it.%20You%20need%20to%20add%20gluten%20externally%20(not%20frequently%20available%20in%20India)%20or%20wheat%20flour%20to%20help%20the%20bread%20rise.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinger%20millet%20lends%20a%20strong%20nutty%20flavor%20and%20natural%20earthy%20taste%20to%20the%20bread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients;%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(medium%20loaf)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20Finger%20millet%20flour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20whole%20wheat%20flour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tbsp.%20All%20purpose%20flour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cup%20warm%20water%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tbsp.%20honey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tbsp.%20oil%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tbsp%20Sesame%20seeds%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp.%20active%20dried%20yeast%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20tsp.%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod;%20Take%20a%20large%20bowl%20and%20combine%20finger%20millet,%20whole%20wheat%20flour,%20salt%20in%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20yeast%20and%20honey%20in%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20warm%20water%20in%20a%20small%20bowl%20and%20leave%20it%20to%20froth%20for%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20a%20well%20in%20the%20center%20of%20the%20flour%20in%20large%20bowl%20and%20pour%20the%20yeast%20mixture%20in%20it.%20Mix%20all%20the%20ingredients%20to%20form%20soft%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKnead%20it%20for%204-5%20minutes%20on%20a%20flat%20surface.%20Oil%20your%20palm%20with%20oil%20if%20the%20dough%20is%20too%20sticky%20to%20handle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20dough%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20cover%20it%20with%20a%20lid%20or%20a%20cling%20film%20to%20rest%20and%20rise%20for%20an%20hour%20or%20more%20till%20the%20volume%20of%20the%20dough%20doubles.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrease%20a%20loaf%20tin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPull%20out%20the%20dough%20from%20the%20bowl%20and%20punch%20it%20on%20a%20dusted%20floor.%20Knead%20it%20gently%20with%20the%20heel%20of%20your%20palm%20for%203-4%20minutes%20and%20place%20the%20dough%20in%20the%20greased%20baking%20tin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESprinkle%20sesame%20seeds%20over%20the%20dough,%20cover%20with%20a%20lid%20and%20let%20it%20rise%20again%20for%20an%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20at%20180%C2%B0C%20for%2010%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20baking%20tin%20in%20hot%20oven%20and%20bake%20it%20for%2020%20minutes%20or%20till%20the%20crust%20is%20golden%20brown%20and%20crisp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20%20the%20bread%20cool%20completely%20before%20slicing%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod;%20Preheat%20oven%20at%20170%C2%B0C%20and%20grease%20a%20shallow%20baking%20tray%20with%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChop%20the%20apricots%20finely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20wheat%20bran%20(I%20used%20Bagryys%20wheat%20bran%20here),%20whole%20wheat%20flour,%20orange%20zest,%20chocolate%20chips,%20chopped%20apricots,%20baking%20powder,%20salt,%20%20and%20cinnamon%20powder%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrate%20the%20outer%20yellow%20skin%20of%20orange%20lightly%20to%20get%20the%20zest%20and%20squeeze%20the%20juice%20out%20of%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20sugar%20and%20oil%20in%20a%20pan%20and%20heat%20it%20for%202%20minutes,%20pour%20orange%20juice%20in%20it%20and%20boil%20for%20another%203-4%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20the%20wheat%20bran%20and%20flour%20mix%20and%20fold%20lightly%20with%20a%20fork%20to%20combine%20all%20the%20ingredients.%20Take%20it%20off%20the%20flame.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20thick%20mixture%20into%20the%20greased%20baking%20tray,%20pressing%20down%20firmly%20with%20a%20spatula.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%2015-20%20minutes%20till%20the%20top%20turns%20golden%20brown%20and%20crisp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMark%20into%20squares%20while%20the%20flapjacks%20are%20still%20warm%20and%20cool%20it%20completely%20before%20slicing%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes;%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReplace%20wheat%20bran%20with%20wheat%20germ%20or%20even%20quick%20cooking%20oats%20to%20give%20a%20wonderful%20bite%20to%20the%20slices.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20Golden%20syrup%20or%20corn%20syrup%20if%20you%20can%20find%20it%20in%20your%20stores%20for%20a%20sticky%20an
