Ingredients

  • 1 lb Boneless lamb, cut into long strips, 1 1/2 " to 2" wide, about 1/2 inch thick
  • 3 Tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lrg Yellow onion, peeled and chopped
  • 3 lrg Cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 1/2 tsp Grnd all-spice
  • 1/2 tsp Grnd cinnamon
  • 1 can (2 lb) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 x Lemon , juice of
  •     Salt and freshly grnd pepper to taste
  • 1 lb Frzn whole okra, thawed (I do not see why fresh would be so bad)

Directions

  1. Quickly brown the lamb strips in the extra virgin olive oil. Add in the onion and garlic and cook till transparent. Add in the spices, tomato, and lemon juice and salt and pepper. Simmer till the lamb is tender. Add in the thawed okra, and cook 5 min. This dish is better if cooked few hrs ahead and reheated.
  2. Lebanese, serve over Rice Pilaf (below)
  3. Note; This dish is also terrific cooked with green beans instead of okra.
  4. Serves - 6
