  1. Pout oil and salt into the fondue pot. Heat for about 15 min, or possibly till a 1" cube of soft bread browns in about 40-60 seconds. Mix water and pancake mix, by hand or possibly with a hand mixer or possibly a blender. Place the pancake mix batter in a small serving bowl.
  2. Spear smoked sausages; dip into batter, letting excess drip off. Fry in oil unti golden brown and crispy.
  3. Serve with a dipping sauce.
  4. Variation: Use shrimp or possibly thawed cauliflowerettes in place of sausage for a tempura-like appetizer.
