.%20But%20I%20was%20determined%20not%20to%20be%20bested%20by%20something%20that%20grows%20on%20a%20tree.%20It%20turns%20out%20that%20it%20really%20isn%E2%80%99t%20that%20difficult%20to%20release%20those%20crunchy,%20juicy%20seeds%20from%20their%20seemingly%20inhospitable%20casing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course,%20there%20is%20more%20than%20one%20way%20to%20skin%20a%E2%80%A6well,%20you%20know.%20(I%20have%20two%20felines%20that%20might%20be%20a%20little%20miffed%20if%20I%20completed%20that%20sentence.)%20Anyways,%20my%20point%20is%20this:%20if%20you%20have%20a%20tried%20and%20true%20method%20of%20seeding%20pomegranates,%20feel%20free%20to%20share%20it%20in%20the%20comments%20section.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20seeding%20several%20pomegranates,%20I%20took%20an%20average%20of%20the%20bounty.%20It%20turns%20out%20that%20one%20large%20pomegranate%20yield%20approximately%203/4%20cups%20of%20arils.%20I%20thought%20about%20buying%20the%20flat%20of%20pomegranates%20that%20is%20sold%20at%20Costco,%20and%20wondered%20about%20freezing%20the%20arils.%20After%20reading%20through%20various%20sites%20and%20forums%20online,%20it%20seems%20that%20this%20is%20only%20recommended%20if%20you%20plan%20to%20use%20the%20arils%20for%20juicing%20after%20you%20thaw%20them,%20as%20the%20arils%20lose%20their%20pleasant%20%E2%80%9Cpop%E2%80%9D%20after%20freezing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHow%20to%20do%20it:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%201:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20the%20ends%20off%20of%20the%20pomegranate,%20but%20don%E2%80%99t%20discard%20them.%20There%20are%20precious%20seeds%20still%20tucked%20inside%20of%20those%20ends!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%202:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EScore%20the%20pomegranate%20between%20the%20natural%20breaks%20(white%20sections)%20between%20the%20seeds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%203:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20pomegranate%20in%20a%20large%20bowl%20of%20water.%20Make%20sure%20that%20the%20water%20is%20high%20enough%20so%20that%20you%20can%20completely%20submerge%20the%20fruit,%20so%20that%20the%20juice%20squirts%20into%20the%20water,%20rather%20than%20out%20of%20the%20bowl%20(and%20onto%20your%20pretty%20white%20sweater%E2%80%A6because,%20inevitably,%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20you%E2%80%99ll%20be%20wearing%20when%20you%20splatter%20blood-red%20fruit%20juice%20all%20over%20your%20front).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20your%20hands,%20break%20apart%20the%20pomegranate%20at%20the%20scored%20sections.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%204:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20there%20are%20a%20couple%20of%20different%20ways%20to%20do%20the%20next%20part.%20I%20typically%20use%20the%20first%20method,%20but%20have%20been%20told%20by%20a%20friend%20that%20the%20second%20method%20is%20sure-fire%20and%20easier:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%201:%20Use%20your%20fingers%20to%20remove%20the%20arils,%20separating%20them%20from%20the%20membranes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%202:%20Hold%20a%20pomegranate%20piece,%20aril-side%20down%20into%20the%20water,%20and%20whack%20the%20skin%20with%20a%20wooden%20spoon.%20The%20arils%20should%20fall%20out%20into%20the%20water.%20Sounds%20kind%20of%20fun,%20and%20oddly%20satisfying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%205:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20empty%20membranes%20of%20the%20pomegranate%20will%20float%20to%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20water,%20and%20the%20arils%20will%20sink%20to%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20slotted%20spoon%20to%20remove%20and%20discard%20the%20membranes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStep%206:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20contents%20of%20the%20bowl%20into%20a%20strainer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVoil%C3%A0%E2%80%A6a%20bowlful%20of%20beautiful%20arils!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20are%20a%20few%20recipe%20ideas:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Earils,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efruit,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehow%20to,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epomegranate,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Erecipe,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eseed,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etutorial%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
