Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening or possibly margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 5 1/2 c. flour Colored sugars or possibly icing

Directions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in Large eggs, 1 at a time, then beat in lowfat milk. Sift baking pwdr and flour together. Reduce speed and, with mixer running, add in flour to creamed mix, 1 c. at a time. Continue beating till mix pulls cleanly away from sides of work bowl, 30 to 45 seconds. If necessary, add in a little more flour. Refrigerate1 hour.
  2. Remove from refrigerator at least 30 min before rolling out. Roll out dough 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut in shapes and transfer to ungreased baking sheet. Decorate with sugar and bake at 350 degrees till light brown, about 10 min.
  3. Alternatively, cut in shapes, bake at 350 degrees till light brown, and then decorate with icing.
  4. This recipe yields 6 dozen cookies.
