Fried Apple Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 2 c. Pared tart apples, sliced
  • 1 pkt Refrigerator biscuits Icing sugar

Directions

  1. Combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, butter and apples in a saucepan.
  2. Simmer this mix, stirring it occasionally till the apples are tender.
  3. Separate the biscuits and roll each on to an oval shape, about 5 inches long. Place 1 Tbsp. of the apple filling on 1/2 of the oval, then fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork. (Be sure they are well sealed or possibly the filling will leak out.) Fry the turnovers in 375 oF warm deep fat for about 1 minute or possibly till golden, turning them once.
  4. Drain them and sprinkle them with icing sugar, and serve hot.
  5. makes 10 turnovers.
