Fresh Strawberry Glace Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 c. Cake flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Butter, or possibly shortening
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 2/3 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 x Egg whites, stiffly beaten

Directions

  1. Sift flour once, measure, add in baking pwdr and salt and sift together three times. Cream butter thoroughly add in sugar gradually, and cream together till light and fluffy. Add in flour, alternately with lowfat milk a small amount at a time, beating after each addition till smooth. Add in vanilla.
  2. Mix in egg whites quickly and thoroughly. Bake in two greased 8-inch layer pans in moderate oven (375 degrees F.) 25 to 30 min. Spread Fresh Strawberry Frosting ( see recipe between layers and on top and sides of cake. Spread Fresh Strawberry Glace ( see recipe 43 ) over frosting, letting it run down on sides: Let stand 1 hour to become hard.
