Ingredients

  • 12 lrg cabbage leaves
  • 1 lb lean grnd beef or possibly lamb
  • 1/2 c. cooked rice
  • 1 can tomato paste - (6 ounce)
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp leaf thyme
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Wash cabbage leaves. Boil 4 c. water. Turn off heat. Soak leaves in water for 5 min. Remove, drain and cold.
  2. Combine grnd meat; rice, salt, pepper, thyme, nutmeg and cinnamon. Place 2 Tbsp. meat mix on each leaf and roll firmly. Stack in electric slow cooker.
  3. Combine tomato paste and water; pour over stuffed cabbage. Cover. Cook on LOW setting for 8 to 10 hrs.
  4. This recipe yields 6 servings.
