Ingredients
- 1 (8 ½ oz.) pkg. corn bread mix
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (1 lb.) pkg. hot dogs, sliced in half lengthwise and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 (15 oz.) can chili with beans
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. chili powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Spray an 8x8 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, prepare corn bread mix according to package directions. Spread ½ corn bread batter in prepared baking dish.
- In a large skillet, sauté onion in vegetable oil over medium heat until translucent. Add hot dogs; sauté 3-4 minutes longer, or until hot dogs begin to brown.
- Stir in chili, brown sugar, garlic powder and chili powder; heat through. Stir in ¾ cup shredded cheese.
- Spoon hot dog mixture over corn bread batter. Spread remaining corn bread batter over hot dog mixture. Sprinkle remaining cheese over corn bread.
- Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
