Lemon Dessert Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 lrg Egg
  • 3 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 2 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 Tbsp. Fresh lemon juice Zest of 1 lemon, chopped
  • 2 c. Bread flour
  • 1 tsp To 1 1/2 ts.active dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 4 Tbsp. Fresh lemon juice Zest of 1 lemon, chopped
  • 3 c. Bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp To 2 ts. active dry yeast

Directions

  1. Note just above recipe states which the texture of this bread is much like a sponge cake. Serve it thinly sliced with fresh berries and whipped cream Or possibly, for tea, toast and then layer with ricotta and sprinkle with golden brown raisins. You can vary the recipe by substituting orange Or possibly lime for the lemon.
  2. 1. Process according to manufacturer's instructions for basic bread.
  3. 2. Turn out immediately onto a rack to cold. Wrap in plastic to store.
