I don’t mean to blow my own trumpet (okay, maybe I do), but aren’t these just the prettiest little biscuits? Lemon almond shortbread, cut into stars and decorated like snowflakes! I’m not allowed to put the Christmas tree up for another week or two yet, so you better believe I’m sneaking some Christmas spirit in wherever I can… don’t be expecting anything else for the next month.

,%20but%20aren%E2%80%99t%20these%20just%20the%20prettiest%20little%20biscuits?%20Lemon%20almond%20shortbread,%20cut%20into%20stars%20and%20decorated%20like%20snowflakes!%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20allowed%20to%20put%20the%20Christmas%20tree%20up%20for%20another%20week%20or%20two%20yet,%20so%20you%20better%20believe%20I%E2%80%99m%20sneaking%20some%20Christmas%20spirit%20in%20wherever%20I%20can%E2%80%A6%20don%E2%80%99t%20be%20expecting%20anything%20else%20for%20the%20next%20month.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ll%20be%20totally%20honest%20though:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirstly,%20this%20isn%E2%80%99t%20actually%20my%20own%20recipe.%20If%20you%E2%80%99ve%20been%20reading%20this%20blog%20for%20more%20than%20twenty%20minutes,%20you%20might%20have%20noticed%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20much%20of%20a%20baker.%20I%20can%20throw%20things%20in%20a%20pot%20and%20make%20dinner%20any%20day%20of%20the%20week%20without%20too%20many%20failures,%20but%20when%20I%20try%20to%20bake,%20it%E2%80%99s%20much%20better%20for%20everyone%20if%20I%20just%20give%20in%20and%20follow%20a%20recipe.%20So,%20this%20recipe%20is%20actually%20by%20John%20Torode.%20If%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20who%20John%20Torode%20is,%20he%E2%80%99s%20an%20Australian%20chef%20who%E2%80%99s%20also%20the%20presenter%20of%20MasterChef%20here%20in%20the%20UK.%20Luckily%20he%E2%80%99s%20also%20a%20much%20better%20baker%20than%20me,%20and%20his%20recipe%20turned%20out%20delicious!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJohn%20serves%20his%20shortbread%20alongside%20affogatto%20(basically%20espresso%20with%20ice%20cream%20in%20it),%20but%20instead%20I%20decided%20to%20go%20a%20bit%20more%20festive%20by%20decorating%20them%20like%20snowflakes!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%E2%80%99re%20so%20pretty!%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20get%20over%20the%20prettiness!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20second%20admission:%20I%20definitely%20didn%E2%80%99t%20decorate%20the%20whole%20batch%20of%20biscuits%20%E2%80%93%20what%20you%20see%20here%20is%20probably%20about%20a%20third%20of%20the%20full%20batch,%20and%20the%20rest%20remained%20entirely%20undecorated.%20Piping%20snowflakes%20onto%20shortbread%20takes%20a%20long%20time!%20After%20decorating%20about%20ten%20biscuits%20and%20getting%20cramp%20in%20my%20hand%20about%20ten%20times,%20I%20decided%20to%20call%20it%20a%20day%20%E2%80%93%20so%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20planning%20on%20icing%20the%20whole%20batch,%20make%20sure%20you%20leave%20plenty%20of%20time%20to%20do%20it!%20It%E2%80%99s%20worth%20the%20effort%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20serving%20these%20little%20shortbread%20snowflakes%20at%20a%20Christmas%20party%20or%20something%20%E2%80%93%20but%20next%20time%20I%20make%20these%20just%20for%20us,%20I%20probably%20won%E2%80%99t%20bother%20decorating%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20it%E2%80%99s%20probably%20not%20the%20best%20idea%20for%20me%20and%20my%20husband%20to%20get%20in%20the%20habit%20of%20eating%20entire%20batches%20of%20biscuits%20between%20the%20two%20of%20us%20(you%20know%20they%20would%20have%20been%20gone%20within%20a%20day),%20I%20thought%20it%20was%20a%20good%20excuse%20to%20have%20my%20parents%20and%20my%20parents-in-law%20round%20for%20dinner.%20Between%20the%20six%20of%20us%20we%20managed%20to%20get%20through%20about%20two%20thirds%20of%20them,%20leaving%20a%20few%20each%20for%20me%20and%20my%20husband%20for%20the%20next%20day.%20Definitely%20more%20acceptable%20than%20eating%20the%20whole%20lot%20ourselves!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20having%20little%20dinner%20parties%20(it%E2%80%99s%20still%20a%20novelty%20hosting%20people%20in%20our%20new-ish%20house!)%20so%20I%20made%20sure%20I%20decorated%20the%20place%20nicely%20with%20candles,%20put%20on%20some%20ambient%20background%20music,%20and%20put%20out%20a%20few%20bowls%20of%20nuts%E2%80%A6%20it%E2%80%99s%20ridiculously%20fun%20being%20the%20hostess%20for%20the%20night.%20We%20finished%20the%20evening%20with%20fresh%20coffee%20made%20in%20our%20new%20Tassimo%20machine.%20Tassimo%20are%20currently%20running%20a%20campaign%20called%20Perfect%20Host,%20and%20are%20aiming%20to%20teach%20the%20nation%20how%20to%20be%20perfect%20hosts%20this%20Christmas%20%E2%80%93%20so%20a%20dinner%20party%20was%20the%20perfect%20time%20to%20try%20it%20out!%20Do%20you%20have%20any%20hosting%20tips%20for%20me?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20husband%20(the%20big%20coffee%20drinker%20in%20our%20house)%20is%20obsessed%20with%20this%20coffee%20machine!%20You%20put%20in%20a%20capsule%20of%20coffee,%20turn%20it%20on,%20and%20your%20cup%20of%20steaming%20hot%20coffee%20pours%20itself.%20It%E2%80%99s%20as%20easy%20as%20instant%20coffee,%20but%20much%20better%20quality,%20and%20perfect%20for%20dipping%20a%20shortbread%20snowflake%20into!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELemon%20almond%20shortbread%20snowflakes%20%20%20%20%20Prep%20time%20%202%20hours%2030%20mins%20%20%20Total%20time%20%202%20hours%2045%20mins%20%20%20%20%20%20Author:%20Becca%20@%20Amuse%20Your%20Bouche%20Recipe%20type:%20Dessert%20Yield:%2030%20%20%20Ingredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E200g%20plain%20flour%20(plus%20more%20for%20dusting)%2090g%2
