Ingredients

  • 6 x Italian peppers (long green ones) ( small bell peppers can be used)
  • 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
  • 1/2 lb grnd chuck teaspoon salt & pepper
  • 1/2 c. Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 x egg
  • 1 can Del Monte Italian Style Stewed Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp warm pepper flakes
  • 5 x 7 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients together. Stuff peppers and then place in a casserole dish.
  2. GARLIC SAUCE:Pour Stewed tomatoes in blender. Add in basil, sugar and warm pepper flakes.
  3. Puree for 2 seconds. (just sufficient to make smooth.)
  4. sautee garlic in oil. Pour in tomatoes and let simmer for about 20 min.
  5. Pour sauce over stuffed peppers. Cover and bake in 350 oven for 30 min or possibly till peppers are done to your liking.... Serve sauce over ziti or possibly spaghetti.
