Homemade Ranch Dressing and Dip

This delicious dressing and dip (e.g. crudités, chicken wings) takes some prep time, but is so much better than bottled dressing, which has, to me, and unpleasant preservative aftertaste.

Ingredients

  • 1 C mayo
  • 1/2 C sour cream
  • 1/2 C buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. table salt , or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper to taste
  • 1/4 C minced fresh chives
  • 3 T fresh, minced dill or 1 1/2 T dry
  • 1 T fresh, minced parsley, or 1/2 T dry
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice or white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder or 1 clove, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. dry thyme or 1/2 tsp. fresh
  • opt: 1/4 tsp. paprika. dash Tabasco

Directions

  1. Mix ingredients together by hand or in the blender, and refrigerate several hours before serving.
  2. If making it as a dip, cut buttermilk to 1/4 C and add 1/4 C more sour cream.
  3. Keeps for a week in the fridge.
