Directions

  1. Prepare 32 napoleon diamonds following the instructions for Napoleons on our Shapes & Uses page. http://www.athens.com/recipes/napoleonshapes.html
  2. Dust with cocoa pwdr and confectioners' sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet in preheated 375 F oven for 8 min or possibly till golden.
  3. In medium saucepan, bring 2 c. of lowfat milk, vanilla and salt to a boil.
  4. In medium bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar together. Add in flour, whisk smooth and stir in remaining 1/2 c. lowfat milk. Whisk yolk mix into warm lowfat milk, bring to a simmer and cook for 3 min, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and fold in chocolate chips, allowing chocolate to heat completely. Strain through sieve into medium bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and cold to room temperature. Assemble napoleons with 4 layers of fillo diamonds and 3 layers of chocolate cream. For decoration, place paper doily over top of fillo diamond, dust with confectioners' sugar and remove doily. Serve with hot Chocolate Sauce. (Recipe Below)
