Ingredients
- 2 c. Sugar
- 3/4 c. Salad oil
- 3 x Large eggs
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 3 c. Flour
- 3 c. Pared, minced apples
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 1 c. Minced nuts
- 1/2 c. Butter
- 1 c. Firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. Evaporated lowfat milk
Directions
- Squares: Combine sugar, oil, Large eggs, soda, flour, apples, vanilla and nuts.
- Mix well; batter is stiff. Spread proportionately in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
- Bake for 1 hour in a preheated oven at 325 degrees. Cake can be iced while still hot. Topping: Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 min longer. Spread topping on squares. Cold cake squares completely before cutting.
