Directions

  1. Heat the butter in a heavy bottom saucepan. Stir in flour, continue to stir. A wire whisk is preferred. When this mix begins to thicken, slowly add in the lowfat milk. Bring to a boil all the while stirring. Add in white pepper and other spices to taste, if you like.
  2. This sauce is excellent over vegetables particularly cauliflower. After you have steamed the cauliflower, break up the flowerets and pour this sauce over them.
