Seafood Gumbo Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 5 1/2 c. water
  • 1 can (16 ounce.) whole tomatoes (broken up, undrained)
  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, shelled, deveined or possibly 1 pound frzn shrimp (thawed)
  • 1 med. red or possibly green pepper (diced)
  • 1 pkg. (8 ounce.) Gumbo Dinner Mix
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 1 pkg. 910 ounce.) frzn whole okra (thawed)

Directions

  1. In 4 or possibly 5 qt pot with tight fitting lid, heat oil, saute/fry pepper 2 min. Gradually add in water and bring to a boil. Stir in dinner mix, tomatoes and red pepper sauce. Cover and simmer 20 min, stirring occasionally. Add in okra and shrimp; simmer 5 min longer or possibly till shrimp are just done. Serves 4.
  2. One lb. of any combination of fresh or possibly frzn, thawed, seafood may be substituted for shrimp.
