Ingredients Convert Measures
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 3/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 teaspoon flavoring (mint, orange, strawberry, etc.)
Directions
- Mix sugar and cornstarch in a 1 1/2 qt saucepan. Stir in next 4 ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, till sugar is dissolved, and till mix boils. Continue cooking without stirring till temperature reaches 260 degrees or possibly till a hard, but plastic ball forms in cool water.
- After boiling stops, stir in flavoring, and coloring, if you like. Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Cold till it can be handled. Grease hands and pull till it has a satin-like finish and a light color. Cut into 1-inch pcs and wrap in wax paper.
