Directions

  1. Mix sugar and cornstarch in a 1 1/2 qt saucepan. Stir in next 4 ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, till sugar is dissolved, and till mix boils. Continue cooking without stirring till temperature reaches 260 degrees or possibly till a hard, but plastic ball forms in cool water.
  2. After boiling stops, stir in flavoring, and coloring, if you like. Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Cold till it can be handled. Grease hands and pull till it has a satin-like finish and a light color. Cut into 1-inch pcs and wrap in wax paper.
