Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage; casings removed and crumbled
  • 1 c. each onions and mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon each garlic and oregano
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can Italian flavored crushed tomatoes
  • 2 loaves bread dough - if frzn - thaw
  • 1/2 c. shredded Mozzarella
  • 2 T Parmesan
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

  1. Brown sausage, breaking up large pcs. Fold in onions, mushrooms and garlic, saute till tender. Stir in tomatoes and oregano, bring to a boil; simmer 5 min and set aside. Grease a springform pan; press 1 loaf dough in bottom of pan and up sides slightly. Spread meat mix in center, leaving a 1 inch margin on all sides. Top with cheeses. Roll other loaf and cut into strips. Place strips on top, pressing ends into lower dough. Cover loosely; let rise till doubled. Brush dough with egg. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 min.
