This cake has been made for generations in my family. Every holiday we make one of these chocolate spice cakes. My children make them now.

Ingredients Convert Measures

  • Cream together well:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Stir in and mix well:
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • Then add:
  • 1 cup Ghirardelli Chocolate (ground)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • Then add and mix well:
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes (hot or warm)
  • ½ cup milk
  • Optional additions (1 cup): chopped nuts and or raisins, chocolate chips
  • Pour into greased bundt pan
  • Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
