Ingredients Convert Measures

  • 1 quart. lowfat milk
  • 2 c. bread cubes
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 4 Large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Few grains nutmeg
  • 1 c. raisins or possibly coconut or possibly both may be added if you like

Directions

  1. Scald lowfat milk; add in bread cubes, butter. Beat Large eggs; add in sugar and salt. Add in lowfat milk mix and vanilla. Add in raisins or possibly coconut. Pour into baking dish.
  2. Beat egg whites till stiff; add in sugar to taste. Top bread pudding with meringue. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees or possibly till inserted knife or possibly toothpick comes out clean.
