Ingredients Convert Measures

  • 2 Tbsp. light Karo syrup
  • 5 Tbsp. butter (not margarine)
  • 1 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1 lrg loaf (1 1/2 pounds) French bread cut into thick slices
  • 6 x beaten Large eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. half and half
  • 1 tsp real vanilla
  •     Minced pecans
  •     Whipped Cream
  •     Fresh fruit of your choice (for topping)
  •     Maple syrup

Directions

  1. Cook the Karo syrup, butter and brown sugar in heavy saucepan till mixed and bubbly. Pour into 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle GENEROUSLY with minced pecans. Arrange sliced bread over mix. Beat Large eggs with half and half and vanilla and pour over bread. Chill overnight. In the morning, bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for about 35 to 45 min. Slice and serve warm topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream, or possibly butter and maple syrup.
